Iffeldorf - Iffeldorfer Günther Bierl celebrated his 80th birthday on February 6th.
In addition to Mayor Hans Lang, the Rundschau was also invited.
There is a lot of hustle and bustle going on at the Bierl family in Iffeldorf.
The guests have arrived and the table has been set.
Gabi Bierl makes coffee.
Daughter Corinna helps.
The occasion is a special one.
Husband and father Günther Bierl celebrates his birthday.
The 80th to be more precise.
In addition to friends and club representatives, Iffeldorf's mayor Hans Lang also came to the celebration.
He hands Bierl a beer mug.
Iffeldorfer has a grandson in Lisbon
Before the cake comes to the table, the birthday child takes time to talk to the Rundschau.
“I met my wife at the football ball in 1968,” he says.
“We got married in ’72.” The Bierl couple have two children, a daughter and a son.
The Bierls also have grandchildren aged seven, nine and 26, reports the celebrant.
His adult grandson lives in Lisbon.
“It’s so beautiful there,” enthuses Bierl.
He traveled a lot in his life.
Including Africa and Thailand.
Bierl was born and grew up in Iffeldorf.
In Weilheim he trained as a toolmaker, then he worked on construction sites in Munich and finally in Penzberg.
The couple also ran the sports center in Iffeldorf for 16 years.
In 2017 the jubilee will retire.
Bierl continues to travel at the age of 80
There is no secret to old age, but you have to keep fit, says Bierl.
He was always traveling a lot, going on weekend trips with friends.
He also rode his mountain bike a lot.
He was also active in football.
He is now noticing that he is becoming a little more forgetful.
But “things are still going relatively well,” says the Iffeldorf resident with satisfaction.
He wants to continue traveling.
Next we go back to Portugal, to Lisbon to visit his grandson.
