The
mayor of Neuquén, Mariano Gaido
, expressed this Saturday his concern about the announcement by the Government of President Javier Milei to
eliminate the Interior Compensation Fund
, which subsidizes transportation in the provinces, and which the communal chief estimated
would bring the price of the ticket to $2,250
in your city.
"We are clear that the cost of the ticket without this fund would leave the value of the ticket at $2,250," said Gaido and considered that, if the measure is implemented, it will
directly impact the workers' pockets
.
Likewise, the Neuquén mayor expressed that "serious consequences are being suffered due to the
unfair asymmetry in the distribution of national resources
", in clear reference to the fact that official aid will remain in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA).
In that sense, he recalled that "the AMBA receives 85% of this compensation fund. This is totally unfair because this reduction only affects the municipalities in the interior of the country."
Gaido highlighted that,
in the face of "such injustice"
, the municipality is working with mayors of the interior to jointly demand "an equitable, egalitarian and fair view for all Argentines."
On Thursday, the national government announced the elimination of the Interior Compensation Fund, from which urban bus companies in all provinces were subsidized.
