The carnival season is also over in Starnberg.

There were two highlights at the end with the awarding of the Order of the Water Lily to the managing director of the Andechser Molkerei, Barbara Scheitz, on Monday evening in the Schlossberghalle and the carnival hustle and bustle on Tuesday afternoon on the church square.

Starnberg - The actress Marianne Sägebrecht received it, as did cabaret artist Ottfried Fischer, the former Ifo president Prof. Hans-Werner Sinn and the Starnberger Tafel: the Starnberg Order of Water Lilies.

Since Monday evening, Barbara Scheitz, the managing director of Andechser Molkerei, has also been in this illustrious series.

Since 1988, the Starnberg carnival society Perchalla has awarded the medal every year on Rose Monday to exceptional personalities who, according to the club's guidelines, “must have attracted attention through a remarkable achievement, a special life's work, a humorous saying or a well-respected flop”.

Instead of a separate event at midday on Shrove Monday, this time the award ceremony was a highlight of the evening Garderevue with a great atmosphere and fantastic shows in the sold-out Schlossberghalle.

To great applause, Perchalla President Andreas Denk honored Barbara Scheitz as the new Water Lily Prize winner.

Former District Administrator Karl Roth, winner of the award in 2020, praised her in his laudatory speech as a “picture-book entrepreneur” who stands for progress and tradition, but especially for sustainability.

Between 100 and 130 million liters of organic milk are processed in the Andechs dairy each year.

“With respect and responsibility for people and nature,” Roth emphasized, she contributes a lot to the preservation of the cultural landscape.

Her “cow sponsorships” are a unique idea and, referring to the dairy’s address, Roth said: “There is only an organic Milky Way in Andechs.” The award-winning entrepreneur’s love of her homeland and joie de vivre make her “the district’s most charming ambassador.”

She heads the community foundation and regularly supports the region's food banks with yoghurt, quark and the like. Barbara Scheitz is “a true queen of organic milk”.

Barbara Scheitz thanked “for the great honor and the medal” and said to the audience with a smile: “I hope that our yogurt-milk-butter-cheese connection lasts.” Perchalla's intensive commitment to carnival and that She was impressed by the Guard's incredible skills and so she came up with an idea: Members of the Youth Guard should work with their team to develop a Perchalla yogurt that will go on sale next carnival.

“And the proceeds go to Perchalla.” There were loud cheers and thunderous applause.

Among the numerous guests of honor were District Administrator Stefan Frey, District Administrator Harald Schwab and the mayors Ludwig Horn (Tutzing), Rupert Steigenberger (Berg) and Georg Scheitz (Andechs).

The city of Starnberg was represented by the deputy mayors Angelika Kammerl and Christiane Falk.

Afterwards, the stage belonged again to the carnival guards, who Perchalla invites to the big guard revue every year.

The friendly carnival societies came from Fürstenfeldbruck, Pöcking and Laim, among others, and turned the Schlossberghalle into a bubbling show palace.

The Perchalla once again set standards with the performances of the Minigarde, Youth Guard and Prinzengarde.

The prince couple Maximilian I and Marie-Sophie I enchanted, as did the child prince couple Luis I and Flora.

Moderated by Honorary President Robert Weiß and his son Nico, the famous “One Million Dollar Girls” and the infamous “Sweat Squad” also thrilled the crazy audience in the final spurt.

Around 1,000 visitors celebrate on the church square

Under a bright blue sky, all carnival fans celebrated on the church square on Tuesday afternoon.

The Perchalla, the Starnberg water rescue service and the FT 09 Starnberg shooting club organized the colorful carnival for the first time alone and with financial support from the city of Starnberg.

“We don’t want to let carnival die out in Starnberg.

That’s why we took it into our own hands,” Perchalla spokeswoman Melanie Riedl told Starnberger Merkur.

According to them, around 1,000 people came to enjoy Shrove Tuesday to the fullest, dancing to the music of DJ Hap and marveling at the show dances of the various Perchalla groups.

Many children attended the event and danced under the guidance of Prince Maximilian I, Princess Marie-Sophie I and the Prince Guard.

There were also drinks, crepes and bratwurst.

Melanie Riedl, who dances in the Prinzengarde herself, doesn't think it's a big deal that the carnival was extremely short this year.

“It was very intense and also nice to have so many performances in one day,” she said.

In total, the Prinzengarde recorded around 40 performances.
