“I sleep much better now,” assures Patrice Dupas after having had many nightmares for a long time.

This winegrower from Loir-et-Cher has just won his case before the judicial court of La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime).

On April 4, 2020, in a France confined due to Covid-19, Patrice Dupas tried to pay a last visit to his dying father, Claude Dupas.

Equipped with a certificate and after having obtained the green light from the gendarmes of his department, the fifty-year-old stumbled upon a gendarmerie check at the entrance to the Île de Ré viaduct.

Repeated calls to the prefecture and the intervention of the family doctor had changed nothing.

His father died three days later.

On April 16, 2020, the gendarmerie ended up publicly recognizing its wrongs before canceling the fine of 135 euros initially imposed on Patrice Dupas.
