Martín Menem
spoke out this Saturday night against the use of state funds to hold artistic shows.
He did it after the controversy unleashed between Javier Milei, Lali Espósito and the group of artists who supported the singer after the public exchanges that he had with the President.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies spoke about this on
La Noche de Mirtha
, a program in which he was a guest.
In reality, he made “an addition” to the vision developed by the television host and model
Horacio Cabak
.
“This week I gave a lot of opinion on the debate about the resources that
impoverishing governors allocate to poor provinces
, paying for international artists,” Cabak began his intervention, after a specific question from Mirtha Legrad, the host of the night.
And he added: “It is not good at this time in the country that
an almost pornographic amount of money
is allocated to hire a figure, who has a well-earned reputation, when around that stage there are boys who do not have sneakers, “They live on dirt streets and have no sewers or health care.”
“It is a debate that must be had.
Is it okay for a governor who has his province in deficit and who does not guarantee a quality of life for the vast majority of his citizens to pay a fortune to an artist with the excuse of bringing joy to the population or an hour and a half? of culture?” said the entertainer.
Legrand tried to put a first and last name to Cabak's questions.
“Are you referring to Lali Espósito?” He asked her.
“In all provinces there is a fact that involves a governor who allocates money to hire an expensive figure,” the guest returned.
It was there, when the driver was about to refer to the singer, where the president of the Chamber of Deputies intervened.
“Can I add something to you?” Menem asked.
And in response to the affirmative response, he emphasized: "At this time and
at no time can we use taxpayers' money for us
, the rulers, to choose the people's preference."
“If you like this artist, it is better
that you pay less taxes and if you want, pay your ticket
to go see that artist,” he explained.
Cabak then made another criticism.
“What happens is that they casually choose artists who are ideologically aligned with the discourse,” he noted.
Menem, then, stated: “The thing is, if you are paying a salary every week from the same political sector, they automatically
align themselves because it becomes a source of work
.”
“
It's political propaganda
,” the lawyer and businessman slipped while journalist Silvia Fernández Barrio, another of the guests like Matías Bagnato, tried to provide her perspective.
Then, with his sights set on the artists, he completed: “There is a nice statement behind which they hide.
They say 'you are attacking culture, art and artists.'”
