a diplomatic source in Cairo, where negotiations were held last week with a view to a new truce in the Gaza Strip.
Around the head of the Egyptian intelligence services, Abbas Kamel, and the Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed Ben Abdelrahman al-Thani, the last round of negotiations brought together the heads of Mossad, David Barnea, and of Shin Beth, Ronen Bar, as well as as Bill Burns, the head of the CIA.

If these discussions did not lead to a breakthrough, due in particular to Hamas' demands on the number of releases of Palestinian detainees that it demands in exchange for the release of Israeli hostages, the talks gave rise to
"exchanges in depth on the questions still pending”,
