Second attempt with the metering light on the B181.

This time the backlog towards Bavaria was limited, but drivers towards Zillertal still needed patience.

Lenggries/Achenkirch – “If it is regulated like this, it is not a problem for us.” This is how District Administrator Josef Niedermaier comments on the second attempt to regulate through traffic in the Achental with a metering light.

Once again the traffic lights were on the Tyrolean side about seven kilometers from the border on the B181.

While traffic on February 10th temporarily backed up on the B307 beyond the Sylvensteindamm onto the B13, there were no such excesses last Saturday.

In the late morning, Google Maps didn't even show slow-moving traffic as far as the junction of the B307 and the B181.

“And this despite the fact that the transit times towards Achenkirch have not been extended,” says District Administrator Josef Niedermaier when asked.

We were actually forced to take this step last Saturday in order to clear the kilometer-long traffic jam.

The aim is to ensure that drivers do not leave the motorway in Holzkirchen

14,000 vehicles drove through the Achental on February 10th.

The evaluation must show whether there were as many last Saturday, says Niedermaier.

In general, there were again a lot of cars from the Netherlands on the road.

There are currently crocus holidays there.

The Saxons also have another week of school holidays, while these have now ended in other federal states.

All numbers then serve as a basis for further testing of the dosing ramp on Saturdays during the Easter holidays.

In general, says Niedermaier, he, his Miesbach colleague Olaf von Löwis and the Tyroleans would pull together.

“Our goal is for people to stay on the motorway and not exit in Holzkirchen.

This would allow Miesbach and us to handle domestic traffic better again,” says Niedermaier.

This time the Brettfall tunnel is causing long traffic jams

Even though the dosing traffic lights didn't cause any disruption this time, there were long traffic jams in and out of the Zillertal direction.

Responsible for this was the block handling at the Brettfall Tunnel at the entrance to the Zillertal.

The backlog towards Achenkirch extended beyond the Kanzelkehre.

The Brettfall Tunnel could prove to be a bottleneck for a long time.

The three-year renovation work will begin after Easter.

For weeks the tunnel will only be accessible in one lane.

A one-week full closure is planned for autumn.
