The ASL: 'In January check on the construction site, no findings'

"This is classified as a large project because it has a significant economic volume. In these cases there is very frequent monitoring, our last check was conducted on January 12th and did not give rise to any findings. There had been others precedents because there is a very frequent systematic control".

Renzo Berti, director of the prevention department of the ASL Toscana Centro, said this regarding checks at the construction site in via Mariti in Florence where the collapse occurred last Thursday which overwhelmed 8 workers: four victims and one still missing in addition to three wounded.

"In general - added Berti - subcontracting is a tool that allows for greater efficiency of activities and also greater speed of execution. It is not said that subcontracting in itself is evil, it may happen that there are subcontracting made with an inadequate criterion. But we found nothing on this."

According to what we learned, the next ASL audit was scheduled for March.
