Investments grew by 11% to 1.38 billion and the net financial position rose from 4.26 to 4.68 billion due to the working capital attributable to the expansion of A2a Energia's customer base, in particular in the Safeguarding and Gradual Protection segments - Micro-enterprises, and the payment of one-off taxes linked to the taxation of extra profits in 2022.

Renewables production grew by 35% to over 4.5TWh, including wind production of 0.4TWh, almost doubled compared to 2022, thanks to the acquisitions made in that year and the start-up of the MataroccoTrapani plant).

Hydroelectric production grew by 37%, reaching 3.7 TWh, one more than in 2022.

According to CEO Renato Mazzoncini, A2a's preliminary results "confirm the acceleration of the group's growth indicated by the Industrial Plan to 2030".

"During 2023 - he explains - we further increased investments in strategic infrastructures for the country's ecological transition with 1.38 billion euros, 11% more than in 2022 and closing the three-year period 2021-2023 at 5 billion, also including the contribution of acquisitions".

Mazzoncini underlines the "record level" of the gross operating margin, defining it as an "extraordinary result, the result of the balanced contribution of all our Business Units and in particular the increase in energy production from renewable sources, the effective hedging strategies and the commercial development actions as well as the progressive normalization of the energy scenario".
