Decision on further liability for costs in Herrsching postponed.

Herrsching

- The Herrschinger BGH local councilor Claudia von Hirschfeld was overcome by “an uneasiness” in the middle of the discussion on Monday, which in the end seemed to have affected the entire committee, because the final decision on expanding parking space management was postponed.

SPD local councilor Wolfgang Schneider submitted this application to the building committee in December, “in order to create a certain level of equal treatment in the town,” as he said.

To date, parking spaces have only been charged on heavily frequented inner-city streets.

Parking is still free on streets that also have designated parking areas and are often used by day trippers - on Schönbichlstrasse, Steindlgasse, Kienbachstrasse and Fischergasse, for example.

The administration was therefore commissioned to examine which public transport areas parking space management could be expanded.

In Monday's listing, the entire local area was represented with marked areas and parking bays, including streets with only six parking bays.

The vote was taken street by street.

Residents of Schönbichlstrasse, who do not have a parking space on their property with a house from 1905, sat in the auditorium and listened intently.

An obligation to pay would hit them hard because, according to Mayor Christian Schiller, the municipality cannot issue annual tickets.

But parking there remains free because the council voted 12:12 - charging was off the table with the stalemate.

There was a majority in favor of the obligation to pay on Kienbachstrasse and Fischergasse.

Second Mayor Christina Reich couldn't believe it.

She saw all the mobile homes that were permanently parked there on Schönbichlstrasse.

Green councilor Wolfgang Darchinger also struggled with the expansion of parking space management.

Where should his employees park then?

“It hits the people who don’t have a lot of money,” he said.

Alexander Keim (FDP) also judged the application to be ineffective.

As the unrest grew with each successive street and took the committee's breath away, CSU local councilor Thomas Bader recalled that the aim of parking space management had originally been to keep parking spaces free in front of the shops.

“I can’t understand the logic,” said Michael Bischeltsrieder (CSU).

If only there was at least a concept, he said.

Instead, there was random voting, street by street, which his council colleague von Hirschfeld described as almost cabaret-like.

Anke Rasmussen (Greens) ended the drama with a point of order to postpone the decision and only query it street by street.

The result plus the cost breakdown should be presented to the local council again so that a concept can perhaps be identified behind it.

The motion was passed unanimously.
