Wencke Myhre can look back on 70 years of stage experience.
But the musician doesn't like the changes in the hit industry at all.
Leipzig – Norwegian singer Wencke Myhre (77) celebrated her breakthrough in the German hit world with “Don’t bite into every apple.”
Songs like “He has a bright red rubber boat” have now become cult.
The musician made her first appearance on stage at the age of seven and therefore has a whopping 70 years of stage experience.
She also witnessed how the industry went through a change that Wencke Myhre cannot approve of.
“You were able to build something different”: Wencke Myhre wants the old hit world back
Many artists don't have it easy in the music world - singer Michelle (52) announced the end of her career and took a hard line against the hit industry.
Women in particular have to really fight their way through and cross a “shark tank without a lifebuoy”.
She received support from many quarters and more and more criticism of the music business became loud.
The changes are also affecting pop icon Wencke Myhre.
In her opinion, things worked better “back in the day.”

In the podcast “
But please with Schlager
” she emphasizes that artists today suffer from the fast pace of life.
“These are great new colleagues, but our work has changed a bit.
There used to be a lot more rehearsal time, which I miss today.
There was a lot more preparation time and you could build something different,” she explains.
Today everything is moving faster, which is why she has great respect for the achievements of many newcomers.
“I am full of respect – there are fantastic people among the new talents,” she says.
Broadcast in color for the first time: Wencke Myhre represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest
In 1968, the Norwegian Wencke Myhre represented Germany on the ESC stage.
At what was then called the “Grand Prix” she performed the song “Ein Hochg der Liebe” and took sixth place.
She was the first foreigner to represent Germany at the competition.
There was also something special about their appearance in London: for the very first time, the musical mega-event was broadcast on TV in color.
This year the ESC is taking place in Malmö, Sweden - after his victory in the preliminary round, Isaak will be competing for Germany.

Cameras don't matter: For Wencke Myhre, all that mattered at the start of his career was the stage
Television has brought about a big change.
Flirting with the camera wasn't important to Wencke Myhre at the time - instead, everything was done for elaborate live productions.
“There was a lot more investment in the stage.
I wanted to get on stage, stage, stage.
“It wasn’t so much with a camera,” she clarifies.
She appreciated the longevity of the hit in its early days.

Wencke Myhre doesn't think everything is bad these days - quite the opposite.
The 77-year-old is happy about the new opportunities that are opening up, especially through technical developments.
“Today there are options, but quick options,” she points out.
Those who cannot access their performance at the push of a button have a difficult time.
While Wencke Mhyre is very enthusiastic about the young talents, Bernhard Brink (71) shoots against the Schlager newcomers.
