The international 'gotha' of medicine, engineering and science will be protagonists in Padua of the first edition of the 'World Health Forum', four days of meetings and events during which the present and future of the evolution of medical sciences and technologies that can improve lives.
The prestigious event, presented this morning in Venice, will be held in the Euganean capital from 20 to 23 March.
The objective of the forum, promoted by the Veneto Region in collaboration, among others, with the Municipality of Padua, the University of Padua and the Cariparo Foundation, aims to address some of the most pressing issues in the healthcare sector and at the same time promote citizens' awareness for general well-being.
The main focus of the initiative - it will occupy the two central days of the debate - will be the application of artificial intelligence to medicine, but there will also be space for pandemic prediction systems and the revolution in patient care.
"Our will is to think of a legacy for the community - specified the governor, Luca Zaia -. We present an event that will become an international point of reference for healthcare and medicine. It is a huge effort - he continued - and our will is starting off on the right foot, because it is perhaps one of the most beautiful initiatives that the Region is putting on the ground."
Speaking of the initiative, the magnificent rector of the University of Padua, Daniela Mappelli, specified that it is no coincidence that the forum is taking place in the city of the Saint, home to an important medical faculty and a prestigious research centre.
"This is an important undertaking - said Mappelli - with which we want to explore themes and compare the world's great experts, including artificial intelligence, in the field of healthcare. We want to do it in an honest and very frank manner , taking into consideration all the opportunities it offers medicine today, but also its risks."
The World Health Forum will be held in two different locations, at Palazzo della Ragione in Piazza delle Erbe, and at the conference center of the capital.
Among the prestigious speeches planned, those by Michaela Van Der Schoor, from the University of Cambridge, who will talk about AI in medicine, and Tiamxi Cai, from the Harvard School of Medicine, on multi-institutional collaboration between different research entities.
