The main problem with foldable screen phones is the price.

Positioned as top of the range, they still fail to hook the average consumer.

A market that could change soon, transforming these models into something more attractive.

The first to want to shake up the market is the Chinese company ZTE, which presented Libero Flip, a folding smartphone with a price tag of 420 dollars.

The price even drops to 265 dollars in pre-order, at the exchange rate in Japan, the only country where the phone user will be able to purchase at least in a first phase.

This is a small fraction of the more than $1,000 that Samsung asks for the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which ZTE takes inspiration from.

Yes, because the opening is clamshell, with an internal circular notch that fits the camera for selfies.

Externally the design is slightly different, as Libero Flip features a ring where the main photographic configuration is located and a portion of the screen that shows widgets and notifications.

It must be said that the technology here is inferior to Samsung: the processor is an outdated Qualcomm Snapdragon series 7, the panel is a 6.9-inch foldable Oled, even if it has a larger battery.

Running everything is Android 13 with 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.

The certification is only IP42, so you risk damaging it under water, even light rain, compared to the IPX8 resistance of the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
