Italy's annual inflation rate rose to0.8% in January, up from 0.6% in December, Istat said onThursday, confirming its preliminary estimate.
The national statistics agency said its consumer price index was up by 0.3% in January in month-on-month terms.
It said the rise in the annual inflation rate was mainly due to the prices of services related to transport (up from +3.7% to +4.2%), of those of unprocessed food (from +7.0% to +7.5%) and of regulated energy products (from -41-6% to -20.6%).
It added, however, that 'core inflation', excluding energy and unprocessed food, decelerated from 3.1% to 2.7%.
The core inflation rate excluding only energy goods dropped from 3.4% to 3.0%, Istat said.
The agency said its 'trolley index' of the prices of food, household and personal care goods dropped from 5.3% to 5.1% in year-on-year terms.
