Congressional workers
will receive a salary increase of 16 percent for January and 12 percent for February
, but it remains to be seen if this increase will be applied to legislators' allowances.
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Martín Menem, confirmed that - together with Vice President Victoria Villarruel - they reached an agreement with the unions and highlighted that it will be
similar to that paid by employees in the National State.
"With @VickyVillarruel we signed an increase of 16% for January and 12% for February. For the first time, the increases for Congressional staff
will be equal to those received by teachers,
security and health personnel, throughout the National State," Menem published this morning on the social network
This agreement must be validated in a resolution by both presidents of Congress, Menem and Villarruel, so that it can be paid with the salaries collected in the first days of March, although they can also be settled with an additional payroll.
It will also be the presidents of the Chambers of Deputies and the Senate who will define whether this increase applies to legislators.
In November 2022, when the agreement was established for 2023, a clause that prohibited hooking the increase in personnel to the legislators' diet was eliminated.
