Breathe a sigh of relief at FC Emmering: The club can count on funding from the Bavarian State Sports Association (BLSV) for converting its floodlight system to LED technology.

Emmering – The facility has been in place for a long time and allows footballers to practice their sport even in the dark.

Thanks to LED technology, the club says it can save around 70 percent of electricity.

But the change wasn't cheap.

It cost around 58,000 euros – a lot of money for a club.

The local council therefore decided to grant a grant of around 10,000 euros.

The club expected a further 17,400 euros from the BLSV.

Contract was adapted to guidelines

But this funding was in jeopardy.

The reason was the association's funding guidelines.

As a prerequisite for the grant, these require that the club be able to use its premises and thus also the floodlight system for at least ten years.

However, this was not in the lease agreement between the municipal administration and the club.

Another criterion for the subsidy: The right of use must be non-cancelable.

That wasn't in the lease either.

The local administration had designed the contract in such a way that it could be terminated if space was needed for infrastructure measures in the future - such as an expansion of the primary school.

Now the local council decided to change the lease agreement so that it complies with the BLSV funding guidelines - unanimously.

“I think a golden bridge has been built,” said Werner Öl (CSU).

He said he doesn't think that much will happen in ten years.

Kathrin Durach (Greens) also supported the change.

Otherwise the club could get into financial difficulties.

Ottmar Altbauer (FW) was surprised.

He was surprised that the points had not been taken into account from the start.

But he also voted for the adjustment of the lease agreement.

Relief at FC Emmering

Club president Manfred Schunn was extremely relieved after the decision.

The funding was firmly planned.

Not getting them would have put the club in great financial trouble.

Schunn: “That would have been a hard blow for us.”
