Vice President Victoria Villarruel ordered the removal of a bust of former president Néstor Kirchner that was in the Hall of Provinces of Congress.

"It was my order to remove it because Néstor Kirchner

was not a senator, he was not vice president and I am not his widow

," she stated Villarruel when asked about the sculpture.

The vice president also said that she sent the bust to the Unión por la Patria bloc "so that they can have it with them."

For now, the sculpture remains in a Congressional file.

"There is no need for it to be in a privileged place hindering, changing or discriminating against other spaces," Villarruel questioned in statements to the press, after a preparatory session in the Senate.

At this point, the official considered that "other spaces do not have their representatives or former presidents" in this room of Congress.

This decision by Villarruel was repudiated by the head of the Unión por la Patria block, José Mayans, during the session in the Upper House.
