"I don't have a crystal ball but I believe that if we manage to maintain the current pace we will reach the 2030 target. We installed one and a half gigawatts in '21, three gigawatts in '22, we are at 6 in 2023, in 2024 I expect 8 or 9".
The Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto said this on the sidelines of the Forum in Masseria 2024, responding to those who asked if it was possible to reach the 2030 target for renewable energy.
"There is an acceleration in the installation - he added - let's just think about what the offshore wind power could be in 2028 and '29, when with the latest provision we have foreseen massive interventions identifying large areas of 50, 60, 70 kilometers squares on the high seas".
