Since the meeting of right-wing extremists and AfD politicians in Berlin, which also discussed the forced deportation of people with a migration background, the topic has been on everyone's lips.

Without foreigners, many things wouldn't work for us.

In a series we present examples of successful integration and show how irreplaceable these people have become.

Weilheim

- Sahar Ramadhan has arrived in every respect, having turned her back on her former home, the Yemeni capital Aden, two and a half years ago.

It wasn't an escape, but a well-considered and prepared decision.

“I realized that I wanted to change my life.

You can develop skills by emigrating,” says the trained dentist.

The situation in Aden became increasingly worse after the war; there was “no government there anymore and too many problems”.

To escape all of this, she taught herself the German language online, language levels A1 and A2, and completed eight months of training at the Goethe Institute in Egypt, up to level B2.

Coming specifically to Weilheim

A friend had positive things to say about Weilheim, so she decided on this destination and bought a plane ticket to Germany.

The prerequisite for entry was proof of your qualifications translated into German and the establishment of a sufficiently filled blocked account.

When she arrived in the district town, she got a place in a shared apartment through the intervention of a Monday vigil member.

The 33-year-old finds the city of Weilheim “beautiful and quiet” and is happy about the good shopping opportunities and the proximity to Munich.

The goal is full approval

Integration guide Inge Putzier was able to find her a position in the Dornheim dental practice in Weilheim.

Dr.

Gustav Dornheim and his wife and “practice manager” Angelika have been happy about this addition to the team ever since.

Ramadhan, who studied in Yemen for five years and completed a one-year internship financed by her parents, started on April 11 last year.

Although she had already worked as a full-fledged dentist in Yemen for seven years, she had to start over here.

As a dental assistant, German laws require this.

As a working student, Ramadhan has a temporary work and residence permit, which she currently has to renew every five months for a fee.

The goal of the committed woman, who definitely wants to be successful in Germany and also to be able to support her family in Yemen, is to obtain a full medical license.

The temporary professional permit gives her a total of two years to do this.

The first test passed successfully

Because she really wants to achieve this, she successfully passed the specialist language test three weeks ago.

Until then, she will actively help with teeth cleaning, making temporary crowns and prophylaxis, among other things.

“We are very happy that we have a motivated, reliable dental assistant in Sahar and will continue to actively support her on her way to recognition,” says the Dornheim couple.
