Mouy, industrial stronghold of the Oise.
Although this statement may be surprising today, it was nevertheless a reality throughout the 19th century.
If the city experienced considerable development at this time, it is thanks to the passage of the Thérain river along which the establishment of the textile industry flourished, followed by those of leather and brushmaking.
From 1,840 inhabitants in 1800, the town has nearly 3,500 a century later.
From this growth, there still remain certain Haussmann-inspired mansions, large buildings which bear witness to the wealth that the city was able to experience, or even the theater, built in 1896 and left partly abandoned during several decades.
Witness to a time when the wealthiest Mouysards needed to have fun, it could soon regain its former glory.
