Calabrian mobsters put bleach intothe altar wine and water to be used by a local anti-mafia priestin a Mass at the weekend, sources said Monday.
Don Felice Battaglia, who has recently been subjected to threatsand intimidation including seeing his car torched, was about todrink the wine and water at the Mass at Cessaniti near ViboValentia when he was put off by the strange smell they wereemitting.
He called in the cops who found that bleach had been added tothe liquids in order to poison the priest.
Cessaniti council was recently dissolved for infiltration by'Ndrangheta, the Calabrian outfit that is Italy's strongest andrichest mafia due to its control of the European cocaine trade.
