Mark Medlock has lived as a recluse on Sylt for years.

In the face of unpleasant headlines, he breaks his silence - and surprises with a photo.

Kampen – It is not a pleasant occasion for Mark Medlock (45) to be making headlines again.

And he can't do anything about it himself.

An unknown person on Instagram and TikTok is pretending that the 2007 DSDS winner is making a comeback, but he apparently only wants one thing with the fake accounts that are designed to be real: the money of inexperienced fans.

Our editorial team had reported on the evil dealings surrounding Mark Medlock, and these have since been picked up by numerous other media outlets.

DSDS winner Mark Medlock lives as a private citizen on Sylt – now he is breaking his Facebook silence

Mark Medlock apparently also uses the incident as an opportunity to break his silence on Facebook.

His account there is verified with a blue tick and is real.

This is evident from the fact that Cornelia Reckert also speaks out.

The Hesse has been staying with the hotel and real estate mogul on the North Sea island of Sylt for more than ten years.

She is not only a manager, but is also considered a confidant and protector of the ex-DSDS star, who has been plagued by drugs and other excesses.

He now lives – whatever you want to call it – as a privateer or hermit.

New music has only been released sporadically over the years; the same applies to performances, for example in intimate settings on Sylt.

There was also radio silence on Facebook: Nothing happened for 20 months since the profile picture was changed on June 16, 2022.

Until February 19, 2024. First Medlock announced a statement, then he warned about the fake profile, then he posted several press reports on the topic.

And followed up with another post.

“And now we can all calm down again,” he writes alongside a photo of himself.

It is the first picture of the DSDS winner in many months.

It is of course not confirmed that it is brand new, but it can be assumed.

“Mark Medlock is feeling relaxed,” the status reads.

And that's exactly how he comes across in the photo: Medlock is wearing a casual leisure look with sweatpants and, unlike before, appears clean-shaven except for a prominent mustache.

His penchant for headgear remains; he wears a dark baseball cap.

DSDS winner Mark Medlock: Some fans hardly recognize him

The photo received almost 3,000 likes in the first three days.

Many are just happy to hear from him again: “The main thing is that you’re doing well.

It’s nice to read something from you” or “A sign of life, how nice, hello,” it says.

Others ask gently or less cautiously whether he would like to become musically active again.

The following touching comment refers to the current incident: “I can imagine what that triggered in you.

It's unbelievable what humanity has in its head.

I wish you a continued beautiful, quiet life, you deserve it.

Of course, your music is completely missed, every year you had a top hit and the summer was saved.

It’s a shame… but life comes first.”

Of course, fans are also eyeing the photo closely.

“You look great and healthy,” they say.

Or: “I had to look twice.

It's really you.

You look very good.” Not everyone likes the new style: “Oh, no mustache please!

Makes you totally old,” reads one comment.

Another user even says: “That’s never, ever Mark” and, in addition to contradiction, she also gets a “I thought that too.” Then manager Reckert speaks up furiously: “That’s definitely Mark.

I should know, I took the photo of him.

So don't talk stupidly." A fan immediately feels guilty: "That shouldn't be ridiculous.

It was just because I wasn't quite sure at first.

But I recognized Mark by his eyes.

Should just be a smile.

Sorry if it came out wrong.”

DSDS winner Mark Medlock lives on Sylt – and receives greetings from his homeland of Hesse

There are also greetings to Sylt from Mark Medlock's hometown.

As is well known, the Hesse man was born in Frankfurt and grew up in Offenbach.

“Greetings from Frankfurt, Mark, good luck, best singer of all time” or “Greetings from Frankfurt am Main.

Nice to hear from you.

Hope you're doing well, I miss your beautiful voice, you're the best," it says.

Or also: “Many greetings from East Frisia (formerly Frankfurt am Main and Offenbach).”

DSDS winner Mark Medlock: Comeback is not planned - but he seems to like Facebook

A big music comeback is not planned, as manager Reckert made it clear at the

: "Mark has completely withdrawn from the public. If he ever gives concerts again, it will only be in a small circle on Sylt - that's it." But on Facebook Medlock seems to have taken a liking to it – possibly also based on the positive reactions.

More postings followed.

“Off to the Biike with a handcart,” says the native of Sylt, referring to a North German custom.

And then writes about three photos: “Spring on the island.

It works.

And now I’m sure there will be statements like that again saying that it’s not me.”

Perhaps you shouldn't blame the fans for being a little more vigilant after the fake alarm.

What is the third DSDS semi-finalist, who fought for victory with Sarah Engels and Pietro Lombardi in 2011, actually doing?
