It did not take two minutes, after the start of his press conference broadcast on the internet and followed by journalists and enthusiasts from around the world, for special prosecutor Krister Petersson to reveal the name of the man who shot the prime minister Swedish Olof Palme, on February 28, 1986, in the center of Stockholm, as he was leaving the cinema with his wife:
“This person is Stig Engström, better known as Skandia Man.
As he is deceased, I cannot question or prosecute him and I have therefore decided to close the preliminary investigation,”
he concluded.
