It is another small step towards the realization of the event arena at the airport: the Freising building committee has agreed to a border shift.
Freising
– “Adjustment of the airport boundary” was the title of the agenda item.
Specifically, it was about the western border between the airport and the city of Freising, which is to be moved in favor of the municipality.
With the resulting reduction in the size of the planned airport area, the municipal land-use planning of the city of Freising can then over-plan the corresponding part of the affected parcel - precisely the land-use planning that is necessary for the realization of the concert arena.
The background to this is the reorganization of traffic in the area of the Agip gas station at the airport.
According to city director Gerhard Koch, the new transport hub is now in operation.
The existing extension of the access road from Nordallee to the public gas station onto Zentralallee will therefore no longer be needed and will be dismantled.
“The performance is also sufficient, taking into account the West 1 traffic junction further east,” it says in the documents.

Manfred Drobny (Greens) was bothered by this.
“How can one say now that the performance of the West node is sufficient and will not be overloaded before the results of the traffic report for the event arena are available?” He also wanted to know who the applicant for this point was.
“The FMG submitted the application – to the government of Upper Bavaria – so that the concept that you all know can be implemented,” said Koch.
The city was asked for a statement as part of this process.
The city's approval resulted in the boundaries being adapted to the circumstances, “no more and no less,” as Mayor Tobias Eschenbacher explained.

The city boss also commented on the vote result, because Emilia Kirner (ÖDP), Nicolas-Pano Graßy (Left) as well as Charlotte Reitsam, Werner Habermeyer and Manfred Drobny (Greens) voted against shifting the border in favor of the city of Freising.
“I don’t understand why you are voting against the expansion of Freising’s municipal planning sovereignty.
So you didn’t take advantage of the opportunity to reduce the size of the airport area.”
Drobny says: “It is difficult to agree to a change that paves the way for a development plan with the content of which you do not agree.”
The Greens had already voted against the city of Freising's fundamental decision for the MUCcc event arena a good two years ago, but were clearly in the minority at the time.
Since then, the planning has continued to take shape.
