Thirteen cleaning women have gone on strike since Monday February 26 in Grenoble after receiving a letter from their employer, the Elior company, announcing their automatic transfer, and without consultation, to the hospital or nursing homes of the agglomeration, although the latter had worked for many years in administration buildings.
“Our bosses didn’t even consult us.
However, we are not trained to clean health establishments where we can catch viruses.
Our schedules will also change and disrupt all of our lives, especially for those of us who have children,” denounces one of the striking cleaning women who demonstrates every day in front of the Grenoble tax center, with the support of the CGT.
“I am 67 years old and I live right next to my workplace, which happens to be the tax office.
I will never be able to go to the hospital,” proclaims the oldest striker.
Waking up at dawn to go to work
Cathia lets out her anger: “We have a pittance salary and we don’t strike for fun.
We have to do it to defend ourselves.
We just ask to be respected.
We are not pawns or puppets.
We are hard workers, fighters.
We get up every day at four in the morning to go to work.
And we juggle several positions to be able to make ends meet.
As a result, our bosses at Elior despise us.
We are not numbers, we are human beings.
I'm mad, I'm furious.
We will therefore go to any lengths to make ourselves heard.
We won't give up!

When contacted, a local manager of the Elior company told us that he did not wish to make any comment on the ongoing conflict.
