Elon Musk is suing OpenAI and its boss Sam Altman.
The company violated agreements.
What the billionaire hopes to achieve from the lawsuit.
San Francisco - Elon Musk's dispute with OpenAI and its boss Sam Altman is entering the next round.
This time the venue is: San Francisco.
Musk filed a lawsuit against the company there on Thursday, February 29th.
The $13 billion collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft is a “flagrant violation” of an agreement between Musk and the AI company’s founders.
Musk pointed out in the lawsuit that OpenAI was founded as a non-profit open source company.
The idea was that artificial intelligence (AI) and its possible dangers should not be left to profit-oriented companies.

The billionaire was “also persuaded by written promises” to provide the startup with $44 million.
This is what Musk's lawyers claim in the lawsuit.
Now it is the case that OpenAI is “not only developing, but refining a general artificial intelligence in order to maximize Microsoft's profits - instead of for the benefit of humanity,” the lawsuit said.
There was initially no response from OpenAI to the lawsuit.
A general AI - in contrast to a simple one - can not only carry out a task better than humans, but is generally superior to them.
According to Musk, this threshold has been reached with ChatGPT 4.
Collaboration between OpenAI and Microsoft in the field of AI is a thorn in Musk's side
Musk bases his lawsuit on OpenAI's collaboration with Microsoft.
The billionaire sees the OpenAI board's failed attempt to remove Altman as boss as evidence of Microsoft's influence over the company.
Microsoft ensured that Altman could return as boss.
Microsoft boss Brad Smith, however, told the
Financial Times
that although the companies are “important partners,” Microsoft does not have control over OpenAI.

What Elon Musk hopes to achieve from the lawsuit against OpenAI
According to the
Reuters
news agency , Musk's lawsuit is about calling on OpenAI to make its own research and technologies freely available to the public.
The AI company should also be prevented from using its technologies, including ChatGPT, for the profit of Microsoft or an individual.
Elon Musk's lack of consent to the AI company's collaboration with Microsoft could actually be fatal for OpenAI, the
Reuters
news agency reported , citing legal experts.
However, it is difficult to predict the process.
Musk, who left OpenAI in 2018, has long criticized OpenAI and Altman.
Last year he founded his own AI company called X.AI, whose chatbot Grok competes with ChatGPT.
Musk sees the difference from other developers in the fact that his AI should look for the “truth”.
