Two geese are fine.
Eighty, hello damage!
At the Béthune water station (Pas-de-Calais), the waterflies have had a field day in recent years.
Result: they have proliferated, to such an extent that the size of the colony now compromises the calm and healthiness of the green lung of the city center...
“For several months, we have been alerted and mobilized regarding the troubles caused by the colony of geese at the water station,” the mayor of the town, Olivier Gacquerre, told his residents from his Facebook page in February.
This is why we are considering moving some of them to the natural areas of the territory.
But we would also like to offer some for adoption.

No question of them ending up in rillettes
The initiative was very favorably received by the residents of Béthun, many of them rejoicing at this “good idea” before offering to accommodate the birds in their pastures, orchards or ponds.
“Our gander is desperate for good company,” says a resident.
“I have a large garden that would make them happy,” adds another.
To be entrusted with it, candidates for adoption must be able to demonstrate a suitable natural environment, warns the municipality.
There's no way they'll end up like rillettes!
Each adoption file submitted will be studied to ensure this and follow-up carried out.
Around fifteen geese will be able to continue to roam the banks of the water station under the eyes of walkers.
But their population will be more supervised.
