With an average age of 32 years, the Hofkirchen fire department not only has the youngest average age in the municipality of Taufkirchen.

The proportion of six women out of a total of 62 active members is also impressive.

And when it comes to celebrating, the 153 members are also very committed, as was shown at the annual general meeting.

Unterhofkirchen - “The staff is our most important asset,” explained the commander of the Hofkirchen fire department, Johannes Walter, at the annual general meeting in the fully occupied hall of the community center and presented the personnel statistics.

Two comrades would soon be leaving for reasons of age, two had already quit, including honorary commander Valentin Vorbuchner, who served for 42 years, including 24 years as first commander.

Three new ones have already been added this year.

There is now also a women's representative, Lisi Oberndorfer, and a deputy for the young talent department, Michael Bichlmaier.

The commander reported on 25 missions with expressive images, including two fires and 16 technical assistance operations.

517 hours were spent on this.

The 28 exercises took 806 hours, a total of 1323.

The training program was also considerable.

At the state level, Michael Bichlmaier and Lisi Osendorfer received further training to become group leaders and Marco Osendorfer to become head of respiratory protection.

At the district level, Michael Bichlmaier and Maximilian Obermüller gave the machinists, Simon Baumgartner and Michael Lanzinger a driving safety training and Korbinian Gruber and Sebastian Hüther the MTA basic module.

Respiratory protection wearers can now call themselves Thomas Bauer, Andreas Bichlmaier, Jakob Hattensperger and Kilian Tremmel.

Thomas Bauer and Andreas Bichlmaier are now squad leaders.

Simon Baumgartner, Maximilian Obermüller, Lisi Osendorfer, Stefan Rauchbart, Stefan Schraufstetter and Stephan Stadler completed the fire brigade paramedic training course.

There will also be various training courses this year, said Walter, who also said that they wanted to purchase the fire department management software “FireCircle” and “FireManager” based on the district concept.

The entertaining highlight of the meeting was the detailed explanations about the social life of the club by chronicler Anderl Mairoth, which he garnished with insider knowledge, jokes and a poem.

We are developing from a “fire department to a celebration department,” he mused when he reported on the successful first Maibaumstüberl, the “event of the year,” in which “the machine hall became a party temple” in Unterriesbach.

After the seven-day festival we went to Hofkirchen to put up the maypole.

The traditional fish barbecue on Good Friday with 600 fish sold, the village festival and the Christmas party with St. Nicholas also ensured many wonderful hours.

The enthusiasm for celebrating also had a positive impact on the club's coffers, as treasurer Daniela Tremmel reported.

That's why Walter suggested investing 20,000 euros in the bank as free reserves to build assets.

The money could be put to good use when building a new equipment hall.

The Hofkirchen firefighters have been waiting for their new, especially larger, fire station for years.

This is high on the municipality’s “priority list,” explained Mayor Stefan Haberl.

But times are difficult.

He also praised the “beautiful carnival float and the good motto” as well as the hard work and solidarity of the comrades.

District fire inspector Richard Obermaier provided information about the fire department's needs planning before chairman Simon Baumgartner, together with the mayor, honored long-standing and promoted members.
