The BLACK LIVES MATTER protest has become an integral part of the English league pitches in the last year, but the striker is tired of the tribute
The BLACK LIVES MATTER protest has become an integral part of English football pitches over the past year, with players from both teams - and the rest of the pitch - kneeling at the start of each game for a short period of time, in order to raise awareness of racism, discrimination and violence against blacks.
A few weeks ago, Crystal Palace striker Wilfred Zaha was fed up with protests that he claimed did not help resolve the issue and said in an interview that he would stop kneeling at the start of the games.
"It already feels like we're just doing it on an automatic, no more," the Ivory Coast player said, "it has no real impact. We need to do more than that. I have no intention of kneeling any further at the start of the games."
Today (Saturday) at the start of Palace's game against West Bromwich Albion, he kept his word and while the rest of the players knelt down, he remained standing as it is now unclear what reactions will be received following his act.
