After the huge achievement she set on Friday, when she won the gold medal in the 50-meter breaststroke and became the first Israeli world champion ever, Anastasia Gurbanko today (Sunday) doubled her achievement with a second gold at the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Dubai.

The great Gorbanko also easily advanced this morning to the semifinals in the 100-meter breaststroke at the World Short Course Swimming Championships.

Gorbanko stopped the clock at 1: 05.47 minutes and that was enough for her for ninth place in the qualifiers.

The 18-year-old swimmer's Israeli record stands at 1: 04.44 minutes and in the afternoon she will surely approach it and maybe even break it.



Gorbanko shone in the pool on Friday when she won the gold medal in the 50-meter breaststroke, stopping the clock at 29.34 seconds and setting a new Israeli record.

She thus became the first Israeli swimmer to win a world title.

She later competed in the 100-meter backstroke, but failed to qualify for the finals.



The World Short Course Swimming Championships are being held in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

It will close on Tuesday.
