Salzburg – Many observers are wondering: what is going on with Bayern?
After the 4-2 disgrace in Bochum on Saturday, there was “only” a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at Red Bull Salzburg on Wednesday.
Thanks to a last-minute goal from Kingsley Coman.
The record champion is in a mini-crisis.
And there are a few reasons for that.
Lack of courage:
Especially in the first half, the Munich team weakened and did not dare enough on the offensive – despite a lot of space.
"Sometimes we lack the courage to play the long, high ball into the gap.
That was also missing in the last few games," said captain Thomas Müller at DAZN.

After the departures of David Alaba (29/Real Madrid) and Jerome Boateng (33/Lyon), Bayern lost an experienced defensive speaker at the back.

Coach Julian Nagelsmann explained: "We have a clear majority and don't defend vehemently in the situation.

Missing stars:
Leon Goretzka (27 / Achilles tendon), Jamal Musiala (18 / Corona) and Alphonso Davies (21 / heart muscle) are sorely missed by the record champions.
"They also hurt us extremely for the bank to increase the quality when other players are tired," said Nagelsmann, looking at the reservists.
"There are a few players who need development time and may not be in the best shape to knock the buck."
In the first half, his team didn't do well at times, said the coach.
"Our possession of the ball in the opposing half wasn't that good," analyzed Nagelsmann, who also felt that Bayern Munich's counter-pressing could be improved.
"I think it was easier to score goals in the first half than in the second.
We had a lot of space behind the chain, which we didn't always use perfectly."
The demanding football coach was satisfied with Bayern's performance in the second half: "We put a lot of pressure on.
It doesn't matter if it's late or not - we deserved the equalizer.
We were very dominant in the second half and played the way we should.” From his point of view, that's how they will play in the second leg on March 8th in the Allianz Arena.
"Then I'm not afraid, I'm in good spirits that we'll get through," said Nagelsmann, who is now preparing his team for the Bundesliga home game against Greuther Fürth on Sunday (3.30 p.m., DAZN).
