Ice hockey: Leader EHC defeats mammoths

With a clear 6:1 win, EHC Klostersee prevailed on Friday evening on their own ice against the Schongau Mammuts.
In the game of the Bayernliga promotion round, which was balanced over long stretches, Grafinger's deserved victory against strong guests was a bit too high.
Grafing – It was only the second meeting of the season between the red-whites and the guests after the two main round duels were canceled due to corona cases.
Great tactics were not to be expected, after the EHC would like to tackle the summit meeting on Sunday in Miesbach as the leader of the table and Schongau still needs every point for fourth place and the playoff entry.
The first notable offensive actions by Philipp Quinlan and Bernd Rische went to Klostersee (2nd).
But the mammoths didn't want to be constricted in the defensive zone.
Jason Lavallee forced Philipp Hähl in the Grafinger box after a quick start to make a first save (7th).
The Canadian was the linchpin in the attacking game and was also successful with a hidden flick (1:1/12th).
At a time when the EHC seemed to be getting the game under control.
After surviving the penalty time, Dominik Quinlan's team had more and more clear scoring opportunities.
Bob Wren failed because of mammoth keeper Philipp Wieland, as did Phil Quinlan again.
57 seconds before the equalizer, Gennaro Hördt scored to make it 1-0 (11th).
In section two, the EHC now with Quirin Bacher for captain Rische (knee injury) in defense, both sides hardly allowed anything.
Rather out of nowhere it rang next to Hähl: Post shot (26th).
The 2:1 was almost as unexpected, after a well thought-out and worth seeing advance.
Florian Gaschke rounded the guest case and passed back to Yannick Kischer.
The defender faked a shot but passed it on to Wren at the far post.
The EHC oldie didn't have any trouble inserting the puck (28').
Schongau had his best moments in the majority, but the Klosterseer had the majority of chances.
Far into the final third everything was open.
And in the end it was clearly in favor of the leader, who pulled away to 6:1 within four minutes through Gaschke, Felix Kaller, Nicolai Quinlan and Florian Engel.
