The play-offs are history for EC Peiting.

The club still clinched a title in the Oberliga - more precisely: its top striker Nardo Nagtzaam.

Peiting – Twelve years ago, a striker from EC Peiting was last voted “Player of the Year” in the Oberliga Süd.

Lubor Dibelka, who at the age of 39 still plays in the DEL2 for the Tölzer Löwen, received this award in the 2009/10 season when the ECP became runners-up in the Oberliga.

In the current season, the people of Peiting can already brush off such a success.

After the 6-2 defeat last Tuesday at the Saale Bulls, Halle is already the last 16 of the play-off round for the ECP.

In the main round, coach Anton Saal's team only managed eighth place.

Nardo Nagtzaam is certainly not responsible for the fact that the Peitingen team only played a mediocre season.

The Dutchman was voted "Player of the Season" in the Oberliga by a specialist jury consisting of coaches and journalists.

Nardo Nagtzaam voted "Player of the Year".

The 31-year-old received 131 votes and relegated Chad Bassen (106) from the Blue Devils Weiden and Matej Pekr (91) from ECDC Memmingen to the following places in the election.

“Sure, someone has to win personal awards.

But it is never the honored player alone.

There is always a whole team behind it, the hard work of all the guys.

I would like to express my thanks to all my teammates, the trainers, supervisors and organizational staff here at EC Peiting,” said Nagtzaam after ECP Managing Director Peter Gast presented him with the award before the home game against Halle last Sunday.

The Dutchman, who is still waiting for his German passport despite passing the exam a month ago, scored 67 points in 39 games in the main round.

48 of those were assists, underscoring Nagtzaam's team spirit.

"Nardo is a thoroughbred ice hockey player who always sets a good example," praised Anton Saal.

"He always goes full throttle and he deserves this honor," added Saal, who is also really angry about the impasse in the Dutchman's naturalization.

"We were promised a lot, but now Nardo has been waiting for the passport for more than four weeks, even though all the documents are available." Saal's anger at the slow bureaucracy is mixed with the joy of the award.

With Sebastian Buchwieser, last year's coach of EC Peiting, who now looks after the Blue Devils Weiden, was voted "Coach of the Year".
