The market town council gives the green light for Wartenberg's big cycling event.
However, the route will be different this time.
Wartenberg – The 24th Whitsun cycle race could actually be the 26th of its kind.
However, Corona has prevented the hosting in Wartenberg for the past two years.
But this year it should be that time again after the forced break: just on Whit Monday, June 6th.
With a unanimous decision, the market council has now officially approved the staging in its meeting.
The race will experience a very significant change this time.
As reported, this year Strogenstrasse will be extensively renovated, and the sidewalks will also be made.
As a result, the organizer, the association RKB Solidarity Wartenberg, is refraining from the proven route that runs past the market square.
As agreed with the town hall, this time the race track leads via Thenner Straße and Am Kleinfeld.
Other things, on the other hand, are proven and well-known.
So for the winner of the main race, the price of the Wartenberg market is to be advertised again.
The "fat tire race" for children and young people between the ages of six and 14 is also on the program again.
"As the name suggests, you can only take part with bicycles that are not racing bikes," explains club chairman Markus Remde in the application for approval.
A hobby and an amateur race are also planned.
The bottom line is that this means additional competition.
The municipality paid the association a subsidy for the prize money before the 2020 cancellation, which is now to be used this year.
The fact that no district or state road will be used this time makes the organization a little easier.
That is why, according to Remde, there is no need for an agreement with the road construction authority to block Strogenstrasse.
Of course, there will not be any blockages or parking bans around the track area.
Appropriate detours will be signposted.
A continuous parking ban applies on Whit Monday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thenner Straße, Bgm.-Stuhlberger-Straße, Am Kleinfeld and on Pfarrer-Rotter-Straße.
The Wartenberg building yard will be helping out with the work again.
