– In the semi-finals of the district cup, the women of SpVgg Attenkirchen had to do without many regulars due to injuries.
Against the playfully stronger guests from SV Untermenzing they were eliminated 2:3 (1:3) shortly before the final.
The Attenkirchners had the better start to the game. After a cross on the far post, Katharina Bauer pushed in for the hosts to make it 1-0 (11th).
But then the game was quickly out of hand.
After three individual errors, they were already 3-1 down at half-time (23rd, 26th, 36th).
In the second half, the duels got better again, and the team brought a lot of fighting spirit to the pitch.
After a cross, Veronika Kaindl netted to make it 2:3 (73rd).
"After that, the equalizer was in the air," said coach Alex Urban.
But the guests from Untermenzing were still the better team and deservedly made it into the final of the district cup.
"The girls have nothing to blame themselves for.
You can lose against a better opponent," emphasizes Urban, for whom the focus is now on the district league game at the weekend.
On Sunday (2 p.m.) the Attenkirchnerinnen will go to the relegation candidates from Dornach.
"There we want to make the sack and create the league."
