After everything is slowly starting up again, the signs are finally pointing to confidence again at the Judoclub Freising.

The pandemic has really hit the club.

Freising

– “That was perhaps the most difficult time for the club,” stated the chairman of the Freising judo club, Hans Reisch, at the first face-to-face meeting in the Attachinger Sportgasstätte in almost two years.

He spoke of ups and downs and that the training, if at all, was only possible under strict conditions.

Competitions and league operations could only have taken place sporadically.

As a highlight, Reisch named the Bavarian Kata Championship with over 50 participants in November 2021. There is currently hope that training has been able to start completely again since March - in compliance with the 3G rules.

Competitions can also take place again, as Vice Chairman Mark Singer added with reference to the upcoming district league encounter with DJK Ingolstadt.

Team leader Andreas Schwaiger was confident from a sporting point of view: "First they have to see if they can beat us." After all, despite all the difficulties, they are well positioned and have two teams in all weight classes.

Decline in membership, especially in the youth sector

According to Singer, the numbers in the youth sector are steadily declining.

In the last three to four years from 140 to almost 100, as he found.

In the past year alone, ten young people have been lost.

Youth leader Michael Emmer confirmed this.

“The average age of the children has fallen.

From the age of 13 or 14 almost everyone would have stopped.

Emmer admitted that they had just “muddled through” recently, but were still confident: they have been back in training since March and “a whole bunch of new people are taking part”.

You work in two groups for beginners and advanced.

According to adult trainer Stefan Steinsdorfer, you don't want to be miserable.

The league is starting again, the training preparation runs parallel to the competition preparation.

In the presence of almost 20 members, he said: "I think we're in flux, we'll build on that and judo is really fun again."

Judoclub Freising: Hall problem topic at the annual general meeting

The hall problem in Freising was also an issue.

The training of the judo club is currently taking place at the school at Sternplatz.

You train in five groups, each with 15 to 20 participants, as Singer said when asked by FT.

It is very cramped, because there is only one changing room.

It is well known that it is difficult to occupy the halls in Freising.

The clubs have to see where they stay.

According to Reisch, it is therefore hoped that the new sports hall under construction at Steinpark will soon be ready for occupancy.

The demand is high, but there have already been "quite good discussions" with those responsible in the city.

Accordingly, the situation could soon relax a little and the judo club could also be taken into account in the occupancy.

It only remains to mention the "procurement of mats".

The judo club urgently needs new training and competition mats.

The existing ones are over 20 years old.

Singer put the cost of retrofitting at around 9,000 euros.

However, there is a subsidy of up to 40 percent.

"The city has waived our rents and doubled our grants so that we can afford it," Singer assured.

The cash report also spoke for the fact that this is the case.

Accordingly, one has recently achieved a plus of almost 5400 euros.

And then Reisch, who was confirmed in office just like his two board members Michael Emmer and Mark Singer, who basically have equal rights, announced that he would not stand for election next time.

After almost 55 years of responsibility, Reisch asked for his understanding.

It was obvious that the decision was not easy for him.
