The Grünwalder Stadium in Giesing is to be expanded and renovated for 77 million euros.
After the city council decision, problems remain - for TSV 1860 and for the city of Munich.
Munich – It was a long stalemate, a first decision was made this Wednesday.
The Grünwalder Stadium in Giesing, home of TSV 1860 Munich, is being expanded and renovated.
For 77 million euros.
The city council voted for it.
But: Before the construction workers move in, there are still problems that the club and the city have to solve.
TSV 1860 Munich: The city council decides to renovate the Grünwalder Stadium in Giesing
Because: The lions have not wanted to commit to a long-term lease.
According to information from
tz.de
and
Merkur.de
, the city wanted the six-year-old to commit to renting for at least ten years.
However, the Giesinger refused this, among other things with the reference to it, the club does not rule out a later promotion to the Bundesliga.
The city is therefore again looking for a conversation with TSV 1860, including in the person of Verena Dietl.
The sports mayor is a Löwen fan herself and is considered a mediator after members of the city council, according to the
Süddeutsche Zeitung
, recently expressed "surprise" to "disappointment" at the lack of commitment from the six-year-olds.
Among other things, the Grünwalder stadium is to be completely covered and given a VIP area.
The premises for the media are to be adapted and noise protection improved with a view to the residents.
The capacity is to be increased from the current 15,000 spectators to 18,105 spectators.
According to the city, more is not possible because of the noise protection on site.
In the past, there have always been complaints from residents after home games of TSV 1860, although the club tries to clear away garbage and broken glass in the streets immediately after the games.
Grünwalder Stadium in Giesing: Unresolved questions between the city of Munich and TSV 1860
The unresolved question about the rental period is not the only problem.
According to reports, the expansion and refurbishment cannot begin before 2026 at the earliest.
Then the renovation work in the Olympic Stadium (for 215 million euros) should be completed.
And the "Oly" could serve as an alternative venue.
Only: There is still no clear statement from the six-year-old.
