Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Gilles Simon, both 37, logically received two of the six invitations awarded to French players.

A few days before the start of Roland-Garros (May 22-June 5), the French Tennis Federation (FFT) has just revealed the identity of the players with a wild card (invitation) to compete in the Grand Slam Parisian.

Unsurprisingly, future retirees Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 37 and former world number 5, and Gilles Simon, also 37 and former world 6th, get the sesame for their Porte d'Auteuil farewell tour.

For Tsonga, this will even be his last tournament.

Simon will store the snowshoes at the end of the season.

Also invited, Lucas Pouille.

The current 165th in the world, number 10 in March 2018, has been in trouble for three years.

He is slowly climbing the slope as evidenced by his victory against Karen Khachanov, a member of the top 30, in Madrid.

It is logical that he obtains a wild card.

Just like Corentin Moutet, down to 126th place, but a resident of the top 80 for many months.

Winners of the “Destination Roland-Garros” circuit, Grégoire Barrere, 210th and Manuel Guinard, 158th will also play in the final draw without going through the qualifying round.

Merit-based invitations as part of the “Destination Roland” operation.

The two players are the best ranked in the “France” Race, with the points earned in the French tournaments, and in the “International” Race, with the points taken in the rest of the tournaments.

Fiona Ferro guest

Among the girls, Fiona Ferro, in the midst of a crisis of confidence in recent months, fallen to 139th place, but long a member of the top 50, receives an invitation.

Just like Chloé Paquet, 101st, Tessah Andrianjafitrimo (144th), Elsa Jacquemot (229th), winner of the 2020 junior edition. Léolia Janjean (223rd) and Harmony Tan (115th) for their part gleaned their wild card by taking the two first places on the “Destination Roland-Garros” circuit.

Of the 8 tickets reserved for the men's and women's main draw, two are already reserved for an American player and an Australian player, due to reciprocal agreements between the FFT, the USTA and Tennis Australia which guarantee an invitation for French players at the Australian Open and the US Open.

These two foreign invitations are also included in the women's draw.

They will be communicated shortly.
