The SC Riessersee squad for the coming season in the ice hockey league is growing and growing.

The latest piece of the puzzle: striker Moritz Israel.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen – There are the filigree players, the artists, the magicians.

And then there are the others, the workers, the fighters.

Moritz Israel is the type that his opponents find annoying.

"His attitude to work and his physical presence on the ice make him a very unpleasant opponent," Pat Cortina describes the striker.

"We also need such types of players in our team." Therefore, SC Riessersee Israel has now provided Israel with a contract that is also valid for the coming season in the ice hockey Oberliga Süd.

The strong right-hand shooter switched from the Dresdner Eislöwen to the market town at the end of December 2021 and wore the SCR jersey in 27 games last season.

He has four goals and five assists.

Not a great statistic for an attacker, but Cortina was immediately impressed by the 26-year-old.

"When Moritz came to us last season, he had a very positive influence on our team right from the start." Born in Zittau, however, he himself is not particularly satisfied with what he has shown on the ice this year.

“Last season wasn't easy for me.

Especially in my head, I was blocked the whole year due to the lack of self-confidence.” Israel had previously had a difficult time in Dresden, only making eight appearances with the DEL2 club.

That nagged at him.

Now he wants to let the past be the past and is optimistic about the future at SCR.

"I'm sure that with good preparation I'll play another very good year and help our team." Cortina also assumes that, in addition to Israel's fighting qualities, he also appreciates his ability as a team player.

"It's important to us that we have players in our squad who absolutely want to play for SC Riessersee and identify 100 percent with this great club.

Moritz is absolutely one of them,” emphasizes the coach.
