The Parisian club has made good progress in recruiting the Strasbourg attacking midfielder on loan to Caen last season. A deal is in good

Paris FC, which resumes training on Monday June 20, before leaving for an internship in Deauville the next day, could quickly see Mehdi Chahiri land.

Back in Strasbourg after a season on loan from Caen, the 25-year-old attacking midfielder is in very advanced discussions with the Ile-de-France club, which will still play in Ligue 2 next season.

Able to play on the wing or behind the striker, Mehdi Chahiri was revealed in the Paris region at Red Star during the 2019-2020 season (13 goals in National), which allowed him to sign professional in Strasbourg.

At the end of the contract in 2024, he should not stay in Alsace and is therefore preparing to find Thierry Laurey, the coach of Paris FC, who had him under his orders in the east of France.

To deal with the departures of Alimany Gory, for whom the purchase option negotiated with Cercle Bruges has not been exercised, Lamine Gueye returned to Metz or Gaëtan Laura transferred to Samsunspor (in Turkish D2) Paris FC opened several files concerning fast, hard-hitting and dribbling players.

Mehdi Chahiri ticks all these boxes.

Unless the situation turns around, he will be the Ile-de-France club's first summer recruit.

Last December, he suffered a serious injury during a trip to Auxerre before returning to competition five months later.

His individual festival punctuated by a goal against Dunkirk, on October 23, 2021, will remain as one of the strong images of the Ligue 2 season. He was also nominated for the UNFP trophy for the most beautiful goal in the championship this season.
