Soccer professional Sébastien Haller, who is suffering from a testicular tumor, has had an operation.
This was confirmed by his club Borussia Dortmund.
"The operation went very, very well and he is on the right track," said BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl in a video interview with Dortmund's jersey sponsor "1&1" published on Tuesday.
The 28-year-old ex-Frankfurter Haller switched from Ajax Amsterdam back to the Bundesliga for BVB in the summer.
"He was super stable and incredibly positive and also said to the team: 'Do your job, give everything.
Make sure we're still in the running when I come back.' And the boys will too,' said Kehl.
Haller himself spoke for the first time on social media a week ago.
"We will see each other again very quickly on the pitch and celebrate our next wins," he wrote, and further: "I will now focus on my recovery so that I can come back even stronger."
On Thursday he posted a photo of himself in bed and wrote: "The first step is taken."
There have recently been several cases of testicular tumors in the Bundesliga.
Just two weeks ago, Hertha BSC announced that Marco Richter, 24, had undergone surgery.
At Union Berlin, Timo Baumgartl, 26, is hoping for a comeback after his surgery and the subsequent chemotherapy.
