Hapoel Beer Sheva/Dimona announced today (Friday) the signing of center Russ Smith.

The player, who has made 26 appearances in the NBA in the New Orleans and Memphis uniforms, is a graduate of the University of Louisville (2014) and in the 2013 season he won the college championship title with her with 18.7 points, in his last season in the college league he scored 18.2 points per game.

Smith was selected 47th in the 2014 draft by Philadelphia, but as mentioned, his path in the best league in the world began in New Orleans and later in Memphis.

In the 2016/17 season he went to Europe for the first time and played for a short time in the Turkish Galatasaray in the Euroleague before returning to the development league.

Later on he played in the Chinese league where he broke point records and in the Puerto Rican league.

He started the 21/22 season in Fort Wayne from the development league (16.4 points) and during the season he suffered an injury that disabled him for a few months until he fully returned to the courts these days.

Smith will land in Israel at the beginning of the week and join the team's training, and will come in the place of Desonte Bradford who will not make it to the team due to personal circumstances.

Tomer Yaron, CEO of the club: "This is a very great and experienced basketball talent, I'm sure we all enjoy the abilities of such a player in the team, a scorer who doesn't land in Israel every day."

Daniel Ravitz, the sports director: "We are very happy that Ras is joining us.

A proven scorer with excellent character and a big winner, a former college champion who will bring added value to our team."
