ESC: "Serious mistakes" lead to third defeat

The Geretsrieder River Rats had almost twice as many shots as the guests from Kempten in the home game on Friday evening.

In the end, however, the Allgäu won 5:3.

Geretsried – Even after the third Bavarian league match, the Geretsried ice hockey team is without points.

"We were certainly equal today, but we make too many serious mistakes and are too harmless when it comes to our shots and when we are outnumbered," said coach Stefan Roth after the 3: 5 (1: 1, 2: 2, 0: 2) - home defeat on Friday evening against ESC Kempten.

His counterpart Brad Miller had seen a hard-fought match until the end, which his team won with a bit of luck.

But Geretsrieder continued to set the pace and even used a man down to make it 1-1 through Martin Köhler (12').

In the second period, too, they were soon behind again, because Nikolas Oppenberger with a concealed shot (25th) and Maximilian Schäffler after a nasty defensive blunder (27th) gave Kempten a 3-1 lead.

"Fortunately we have a high morale," Stefan Roth praised his protégés, because Bernhard Jorde first brought the ESC to 2: 3 (29th).

And ten minutes later, Josef Reiter made it 3:3 in the margin.

But there were also two dropouts in the final section, which caused the River Rats to fall behind again.

In addition to the goals scored by Sebastian Koberger (45th) and Pascal Kröber (55th), there were certainly opportunities to equalize.

But either the concentration was lacking in the end or guest keeper Schubert was on the post.

Roth's conclusion: "It's clear that after three defeats it's getting harder and harder for us."
