Liverpool beat Manchester City tonight (Sunday) at Anfield Stadium 0:1, in the last years Premier League season game.
This is not how Jurgen Klopp expected to open the season with Liverpool.
Although the runner-up lost only two games in England, they ended in a draw no less than 4 times in the first eight games.
All this, plus the 4:1 loss to Napoli in the Champions League, raised big questions about the Merseyside squad.
Tonight, against Manchester City - which is surely one of the best teams in the world, Liverpool and Klopp proved what they are worth.
With Joe Gomez and James Milner starting in the German's defense due to injuries to Ibrahim Konte, Joel Matip and Trent Alexander-Arnold, and against the red-hot Arling Holland, everyone expected another display from the Norwegian striker.

But the one who stole the show was Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian, who just last week against Rangers scored the fastest hat-trick in the history of the champions.
In the 76th minute, Alisson saw Salah's movement in the half and fed him a long ball, the Egyptian broke free with a great turn from Joao Cancelo's guard and raced to score against Ederson.
Jurgen Klopp saw the red card in the 86th minute after he screamed at the fourth referee following an allegation of a foul by Bernardo Silva on Salah, and Anthony Taylor removed him to the stands, but in the end a huge -0:1 for Liverpool.

Liverpool is still in the middle of the table, very far from its natural position, but this victory plus the display against Rangers in the Champions League gives Reds fans hope that maybe your team has finally arrived this season.
Another big winner tonight is Arsenal, who, thanks to City's loss of points, opens a gap of 4 points at the top.
