FC Bayern came back from a 2-0 deficit in the women's Champions League and won 3-2 (0-2) at Benfica Lisbon.

First of all, the Portuguese took advantage of their first two chances through Nycole Raysla (44th minute) and Cloé Lacasse (59th minute).

The long harmless Bavarians struggled, only Maximiliane Rall managed to catch up (67th).

In a strong final offensive, summer signing Georgia Stanway first equalized (84'), before even scoring to win in injury time (90+8').

Bayern keeper Maria Luisa Grohs had just saved a penalty kick (89th).

Bitter from Bayern's point of view: Captain Lina Magull had to be replaced in the second half with a head injury.

Bayern initially acted harmlessly against an opponent who mainly focused on defending.

Klara Bühl had the best chance of the first half, but her shot landed on the left post (9').

After that, the Bundesliga side had a lot of the ball, but like the 2-1 defeat in the top Bundesliga game at VfL Wolfsburg on Sunday, they lacked the pace going forward.

Benfica defended most of the attacking attempts without much trouble - and then took the lead with his first chance.

Ana Vitoria won the ball in midfield, quickly played on the left to Lacasse who found Raysla in the middle.

The Brazilian international converted safely (44th).

Magull hurts himself

After the restart, little changed in the course of the game before Bayern suffered a severe personal setback.

Captain Lina Magull first headed just over the goal and when she landed her head hit her opponent Carole Costa's knee (54').

The international then lay in a daze, holding her face and was treated for a long time before being carried off the pitch on a stretcher.

Bayern then acted noticeably unsettled – and promptly conceded the second goal.

The Portuguese countered again, Lacasse shot the ball from 14 meters with little precision and without much pressure on goal, where it slipped through the hands of Bayern keeper Maria Luisa Grohs (59th).

Stanway turns up

FCB coach Alexander Straus then made a very offensive change and thus enlivened Bayern's long, tired game, who scored a goal in the 67th minute.

Maximiliane Rall prevails strongly after a corner and heads in.

After that, Bayern pressed and missed a few chances before Georgia Stanway equalized from around 16 meters (84').

Shortly before the end, keeper Grohs made up for her mistake when she parried a very questionable penalty kick from Ana Vitoria (88').

Bayern then continued to push for an equaliser, and again it was the strong Stanway who prevailed in the penalty area and scored the winning goal in added time (90+8').

FC Bayern will play their next game on November 24th at last year's finalists FC Barcelona.

The Catalans are marching through Group D so far. They won 4-1 at FC Rosengård on Tuesday after beating Benfica 9-0 on Matchday 1.

FC Bayern won their first game against Rosengård 2-1 and is second in Group D with six points behind Barça.

On Wednesday, VfL Wolfsburg won their second game of this year's Champions League season 2-0 (1-0) at Slavia Prague and leads Group B with six points ahead of AS Roma (6) and the outsiders who are still pointless Prague and St. Pölten.
