Ex-Bayern defender Sammy Kuffour believes that Sadio Mané has far from exhausted his potential at Bayern Munich.

Munich – Robert Lewandowski's desire to score a goal against his former club was clear to see.

He kept trying to get into dangerous areas, signaling his Barcelona team-mates how to pass him on and doing everything he could to finally score.

But in vain.

In the end, it was a Wednesday night to forget for the Polish attacker.

No goal in 82 minutes of play, plus only 34 ball contacts, a pass rate of just over 60 percent and ten turnovers.

Worse still, the premier class adventure with Barca will be over for him after the preliminary round.

Inter Milan's 4-0 win over Viktoria Pilsen sealed the Catalans' exit before kick-off.

From Barca's point of view, however, it was at least necessary to take revenge for the sensitive 0-2 defeat in the first leg in Munich.

In the end, Lewandowski and Co. suffered another humiliation at the hands of FC Bayern.

0: 3 against the "Bestia Negra" (Black Beast), as FC Bayern is reverently called in Spain - and that at home in the sold-out Camp Nou.

Kahn: Mané "will be a much more valuable one for us in the future"

After just ten minutes, the 80,000 or so Barca fans had to realize with dismay that Bayern Munich, despite qualifying early for the knockout stage, didn't want to give any gifts that evening - not even to their former striker.

Sadio Mané, who wasn't sure beforehand whether he would play at all, finished ice cold after Serge Gnabry's dream pass to take the lead.

For the attacking star in Bayern's squad, it was the third goal in Bayern's fifth Champions League game.

Overall, he now has ten goals in 19 games for the German record champions.

Considering that Mané still has to acclimatize to the Munich team, his statistics are not bad to read.

"Sadio is a valuable player and he will be a much more valuable player for us in the future," predicted CEO Oliver Kahn ahead of the Barca game on Wednesday.

"Sadio played his good games, he scored his goals." Another good game by Mané, including a goal, should follow against Barcelona.

Kuffour believes in Mané: "Can become the best player in the world"

The form curve of the 30-year-old is clearly pointing upwards.

When it comes to ex-FCB player Samuel Kuffour, Bayern fans can look forward to even more.

“Sadio himself knows that he can do even more.

He has just been voted the second best player in the world at the Ballon d'Or, behind Karim Benzema.

Previously, he was named Africa's footballer of the year.

So he showed that he can do more," said the former Bayern crowd favorite in an interview with

AZ

before the match .

Kuffour, a former player for Ghana's national team, still sees Mané as one of the best footballers around.

"I hope that he wins the Champions League with Bayern and plays a very good World Cup with Senegal - then he can become the best player in the world."
