The members of the Italian national team uploaded a video in which they expressed solidarity with what is happening in the Islamic country, in which they said: "Support to all the women who suffer from strong oppression, who fight hard to live as normal a life as possible as we live it."

Members of the Italian taekwondo team expressed their support for the protests against the government in Iran through a video in which they cut their hair.

The video is meant to show solidarity with the protest created by the death of Mahsa Amini, who was allegedly killed by Iran's so-called "morality police", and was shared by the Italian Taekwondo Federation on all its various social media channels.

"Support to all the women in Iran and the world who suffer from strong oppression, who are fighting hard to live as normal a life as possible as we live it," says Maristela Smirgaglia in the video. "Don't turn off this voice! Together for women's freedom."

Paulina Armaria, Sarah El Halwani and Natalia D'Angelo also cut their hair in the clip.

The video of the Italian athletes ends with the popular rallying cry among the Kurdish independence movement adopted by the demonstrators in Iran - "Women, life, freedom".

As you remember, Amini died on September 16 and the demonstrations that followed have already passed the 40-day mark.

According to government officials, the protests are the largest in Iran in more than a decade, and during the protests many women were seen removing their hijabs or cutting their hair in public as an act of defiance against Iran's harsh restrictions on women's freedoms.

The Human Rights Organization of Iran estimates that at least 234 people, including 29 children, were killed in a brutal attack by the security forces against the demonstrations.
