The Erding Gladiators left the Schongauer Eis on Friday evening with hanging heads.
Schongau/Erding – In a game with a constantly changing lead, the hosts Mammuts prevailed with 5:3 goals (2:1, 0:1, 3:1).
Erding remains without a win away from home.
The opening phase belonged to the guests, who took the lead after a good three minutes – with a coast-to-coast goal: Ryan Murphy grabbed the disc in his own third, ran alone to the opponent’s goal and scored icily to make it 1-0 .
After that, however, the mammoths got the game under control.
It was noticeable that the Gladiators did not manage to close the neutral zone.
And so the mammoths, who looked a bit more lively and determined, usually outnumbered Erdinger third and drove dangerous attacks in the direction of Christoph Schedlbauer, who acted safely in goal as usual.
However, he was powerless in the 13th minute when Jonas Lautenbacher completed a quick attack to make it 1-1.
A little later, Erik Modlmayr had the chance to make it 2-1 with a break, but failed because of the Schongau keeper Philipp Wieland.
31 seconds before the end of the period, a Schongauer had to go to the penalty box, and 16 seconds later it was 2-1 – for Schongau.
During the build-up, an Erdinger defender sabered over the target and Jonas Schwarzfischer scored outnumbered.
In the second section, the gladiators held their blue line significantly better, so that the mammoths could no longer march through so easily and the chances were significantly fewer as a result.
Bad luck for Modlmayr in the 25th minute when his shot jumped over the shoulder of the Schongau goalkeeper and landed exactly on the line.
Before an Erdinger could follow up, a defender had clarified.
But then the equalizer came: After a face-off, Mark Waldhausen took aim and the puck bounced off the post onto Philipp Michl's bat, who only had to concede to make it 2-2 (29').
The Erdingers survived two situations with a man down, and when one player from each team was in the penalty box, the Gladiators had their strongest phase, but also bad luck when Roni Rukajärvi and Murphy shot into the post (39').
In the final third, Florian Zimmermann was also unlucky with a crossbar shot (46'), but then a powerful slap shot from Rukajärvi made it 3-2 for Erding (47').
But with poor defending, the gladiators robbed themselves of the fruits of their labor.
Marius Klein equalized to make it 3:3 (52nd), and five minutes later the Mammuts were 4:3 ahead after a goal by Schwarzfischer.
When Zimmermann then received a controversial game penalty, the Schongauer took advantage of the superiority to 5: 3 through Mathias Schuster (58th).
