Whittington (29, 2.06) who previously played in Gilboa/Galil will strengthen Lior Liubin's forward line: "I am very happy about the signing of Greg, I am sure he will be able to help later in the season"

Hapoel Beer Sheva/Dimona has been looking for reinforcements for the front line for the past two months and this evening (Tuesday) it finally found it, when it announced the signing of forward Greg Whittington.

Whittington (29, 2.06), a graduate of Georgetown University, began his professional career in Sioux Falls from the Development League and from there he moved to the Australian Sydney Kings.

In the 2017-2018 season he arrived in Japan and the following season he landed in Hapoel Gilboa/Galil where he collaborated with Joaquin Shuchman and assistant coach Guy Kaplan, that season Whittington finished third in the Winner League scoring table (18.4) and first in rebounds (9.6).

He started the 2019-20 season in the Turkish Galatasaray alongside Ben Moore and took part in the team's games in the Eurocup and the Turkish League. Following the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, he returned to the US.

In the 20-21 season he received a short contract with the Denver Nuggets of the NBA and in the 21-22 season he moved to the Russian Lokomotiv Kuban, a season that was cut short due to the war in Russia.

The team's coach, Lior Liubin, commented on the signing and said:

"I am very happy about the signing of Greg, I am sure he will be able to help later in the season."
