Flick reveals Müller's comeback plan - and gives extra praise

In the squad presentation of the DFB for the 2022 World Cup, Hansi Flick emphasizes Thomas Müller's personnel and also mentions a comeback date.

On Thursday afternoon, Hansi Flick presented his DFB squad for the 2022 World Cup and caused a surprise with one or the other personnel decision.

Youngsters like Armel Bella-Kotchap (FC Southampton) or the only 17-year-old Youssoufa Moukoko (Borussia Dortmund) can look forward to their first participation in a World Cup.

The nominations of Mario Götze (Eintracht Frankfurt) and Niclas Füllkrug (Werder Bremen) were also not certain in advance.

On the other hand, there was disappointment among veterans like Mats Hummels and Marco Reus (both BVB).

Hummels in particular had imagined chances of a German squad place and then called the decision of the national coach as "one of the biggest disappointments" of his career.

Reus is still struggling with his injured ankle.

Nevertheless, the German team will not lack experience at this World Cup.

With captain Manuel Neuer (36) and Thomas Müller (33), two absolute DFB veterans are on the plane to Qatar.

Müller's healing process in the adductor muscles seems to be going well.

The Weilheimer recently sent a positive signal himself.

At the squad announcement on Thursday, Flick also commented on Müller and even promised a comeback in the last friendly before the World Cup against Oman on November 16th.

Flick about Müller: "Never been so well prepared"

Flick expects Müller "with good fitness" to start preparing for the big tournament.

On top of that, there was extra praise from the national coach.

"I am convinced that he has never been so well prepared for a World Cup," emphasized Flick during the presentation of the squad.

The DFB coach should be right about that, after all, Müller explained before the season that he would prepare for the World Cup with special training.

In any case, Müller will not be in the squad for FC Bayern's last Bundesliga game before the World Cup.

FCB coach Julian Nagelsmann made it clear at the beginning of the week that he didn't want to take any risks with the 33-year-old.

So Müller's focus is now fully on the World Cup in the desert state - the tournament he has been working towards for months.
